Howard Lee Edwards Jr. Guitar, Bass
Howard Lee began playing the guitar very early on at age 4, with a guitar given to him as a Christmas gift. His dad, a keyboard player, inspired him to play and showed him some basic guitar techniques to get him started. Throughout his childhood, Howard Lee went through several different guitars, playing them as hard and with as much feeling as possible. When he reached his teens, he began taking private lessons to hone his skills. Howard Lee’s favorite bands growing up were Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. Howard Lee’s brother Joe played drums and they would jam together for hours, working on various songs. In high school, Howard Lee formed his own band, The Howard Lee Edwards Band, which included his brother on drums and his dad on keys. The band giged at local restaurants and recorded original material. Howard Lee Edwards went on to pursue music at the collegiate level, studying at Franklin and Marshall College. In college, Howard Lee formed another band, also called The Howard Lee Edwards Band, which included his brother Joe on drums and Dom DePamphilis on bass and vocals. The band performed frequently at campus venues, including the college’s Spring Arts Festival which featured national acts. Howard Lee graduated from F & M earning degrees in business and music and had the opportunity to do an in depth study of the independent music industry. After college, he wrote and recorded a full length album on which he performed all the instruments, including vocals. Howard Lee went on tour to promote the album, headlining local college shows, including a show at The College Of New Jersey. Today, Howard Lee continues to write, record, and perform with his band. To date, he has written in excess of 100 songs at the professional level. He also does session work for a variety of artists, including professional country singer Mike Kuhl, and performs frequently at local venues, including The Stone Pony. He has a passion for all styles of music and encourages his students to be the best musicians they can be. |
